Covers the following wars: Spanish-American War; Philippine Insurrection, Boer War, Russo-Japanese War. General description of the collection: The W.W. Dinwiddie photograph collection includes photos by Dinwiddie, a very prolific photographer who followed in the steps of Matthew Brady and his operatives in photographing the Spanish-American War and Philippine Insurrection and then went to photograph other military operations. For the Spanish-American War both theaters are covered: Cuba/Puerto Rico and the Philippine Islands. The phots, though not cataloged are batch filed by general subject matter areas which are as follows: personalities, units, cavalry, artillery, soldier life, miscellaneous unidentified soldiers, medical department, signal corps activities, hospitals, wounded, mules, wagons, transportation, wharfs, sunken ships, embarking, disembarking, railroads, Caribbean Theater - Cuba, Moro Castle, Cuban generals, officers, civilians, Cuban towns and villages, Puerto Rico, Philippine Islands, "General Lawton in the Philippine"--A photo album, Macabebe Scouts, Insurgents, Emilio Aguinaldo, Moros, Igorates, Ilocanos, Boer War, South Africa, Japan 1904-1905, glass slides for which there is an index. Many of the photographs are a bit out of focus; many are dark or faded and most are not annotated. However, this is a significant Spanish-American War collection and must not be overlooked.
